It is a passion to expand the collection and include stamps from countries that do not feature in the collection.
One of the major issues that are of prime concern to stamp collectors is stamp evaluation. A stamp can be evaluated on the basis of its price (printed on the top right hand corner of the stamp) or on the basis of its date of issue. The older the stamp, the higher its value becomes. Its something like wine, the only difference being is that it is not edible. Stamps can also be evaluated on the basis of their journey through several hands. There are some stamps, which have been possessed by only the President of the country, and if that stamp reaches you, it has an automatic added value. No wonder, in case you wish to be the owner of that stamp, you would need to shell out quite a fortune.
Many people are also inquisitive about the way stamp prices are fixed or better still, the change in stamp pricing over the years for a particular stamp. One of the most expensive stamps is from the Great Britain. Most of the stamps, which have a royal connection, have an automatic value addition. Normal philatelists have cheap stamps and popular stamps adorning their collection, as these stamps are easy to acquire. The real feather on your cap is achieved by rare stamps, which are hard to get. In case you wish to expand your stamp collection, you can visit the stamp market, where you get innumerable stamp vendors with rare and exquisite stamps, which would make your collection one in a million.
